In Memoriam The loss of a beloved pet can hurt as much as the loss of a dear human. Sometimes one even has a great share of guilt in its senseless death. Sometimes death comes suddenly, destroying a happy moment. And sometimes it seems to be a final blow after a series of injust misery. Some deaths could have been avoided, at other times death is forseen from the beginning. This page is dedicated to the animal family members who's loss still hurts at times. Book of Condolence
Felix 30.6.1996-27.8.1999. My best friend & first cat, killed by a car. He wasn't only beautiful, he was also my one and only friend at that time. He was very sweet and caring, the center of the family. As he gravely injured my hamster the day before he died, I ignored all his affections and he left us without being cuddled a last time. I still deeply regret that. Yuppi 1998-2000. A loyal companion, father of 49. Old age. He was always with me, on my shoulder or in my pocket. He wouldn't even try to run away! I knew him so well that I sensed his death to come and I took him for one last walk and allowed him to sleep on my pillow. ![]() Baby Taichou & Misao 19.4.2000-2001. Our two sweetest kitten from Lucymia, both died of FIP. We knew Misao was sick and simply tried to make her last weeks as joyful as possible, but we didn't know about Taichou. We thought we could cure him. We kept hoping even when he was to weak to eat. A cheerful and cheeky kitten, it must have been hell for him to be to weak to play. And on Feb 13, I sensed he wasn't well and I went home to look after him. He was dying. ![]() Brutus April 1998 - 27.8.1998. A cheerful puppy, killed by a slow car and by my negligence. He has always played in the garden, never crossed a street on his own. But he did this time. The car that hit him was of the same type as ours so he must have mistaken it for us coming home. We were home. ![]() Franz-Man, 1998-2000. Representing all our (smaller) rabbits, this huge animal was our favorite. He, as our others, was killed by wild rats, eventhough he was as large as a fox. He knew how to fight as he saved a dwarf rabbit once. When we got him, we regretted buying him at first. In fact, the seller considered him too small, but us, we were scared of him as soon as we arrived at home and saw him full-size. He soon came to love him though and he usually ran around freely. All he needed to do was tear down the roof of his cage, walk down the stairs and there he was! He chased the dog at times. ![]() Kurt Schopenhauer Spring 2003-1.2.2004. My hamster. He ran away and walked into a deady trap. I had many hamsters, dozens. But Kurt was the only one I truly loved. ![]() Macavity the stray cat. Very old and worn he was when we moved into his area. Shy to the point of being aggressive, always snarling and going mad when caught, we tamed him to be a regular guest for supper, always joined by his brothers and he grew very dear to us. He probably didn't survive the winter of 2000, as he wasn't seen again eversince. |
